What Are the Blue Gem Skins?
Before we dive into why this particular skin is so spectacular, it’s important to understand why the Blue Gem patterns are so special in the Counter Strike trading community. Blue Gem skins in CS2 are a rare variant of skins in the Case Hardened family. They normally feature heat-treated patina colors with a very unique and distinct aesthetic and are generally quite expensive by themselves. However, that’s not the end of the story, as some float value variants of Case Hardened skins feature a drop of blue color somewhere on the skin, which is commonly referred to as the blue gem patterns within the CS community.
These exclusive skins are some of the most expensive CS2 items available in the game. Due to their rarity and high demand among collectors blue gems can easily reach prices in hundreds of thousands of dollars (yes, you’ve read that correctly). In fact, the AK-47 blue gem that was unboxed recently is priced at around $1000000 for just a single copy, although its owner claims that he doesn’t want to part with the skin, even at such an insane market value.
Perhaps the most popular and iconic blue gem skin is the rare Karambit Blue Gem, with prices from a couple of thousands to even one million, depending on the individual patterns. They are considered the most expensive knife skins, even in Battle-Scarred or Minimal Wear conditions, and can be worth a lot of money on the Steam Community market.
What is the New Desert Eagle Heat Treated?
As you can see blue gem skins are a rarity within the CS2 trading community, which is why an introduction of the new Desert Eagle skin with this pattern is quite a shocking event. Desert Eagle is one of the more popular CS2 pistols and is often bought early-game by players who enjoy sniping from afar.
The Desert Eagle Heat Treated skin features the iconic Case Hardened aesthetic, of patina color with a wood charcoal paint coat treated with high temperatures. However, just like the other Case Hardened skins Desert Eagle Heat Treated is available in various blue gem patterns.
Currently, there are gold, purple and blue color Case Hardened skins available. So far players have managed to identify the following blue gem patterns for the Desert Eagle Heat Treated skin:

How to Get the Desert Eagle Heat Treated?
At the moment there are two different ways to obtain the Desert Eagle Heat Treated for yourself:
Trading CS2 Skins
While it was trade-locked in the past, you can now purchase a Desert Eagle Heat Treated from another player who sells CS2 (CS:GO) skins at the Steam Community market, or visit one of the different third-party trading websites. At the moment the standard price of the Desert Eagle Heat Treated greatly varies on its individual skin patterns, with some costing only a coupe of dollars, while the more expensive patterns can cost over one thousand, which technically still makes it one of the cheapest Blue Gem skins in the game.
Armory Pass Credits
One of the big additions in the armory update is a new form of a purchasable battle pass, which allows players to earn special points, known as armory credits, for completing tasks within the armory pass. Players can exchange these credits for a number of different rewards, such as charms, weapon cases, and one of the most expensive rewards credit-wise, the Desert Eagle Heat Treated skin. Keep in mind that the pattern you receive this way is always random, meaning that your skin can either cost a couple of dollars, or thousand, depending on your luck.
In Conclusion
As you can see, there’s a reason why the addition of a new Blue Gem skin was such a bug even in the Counter Strike community. Although obtaining a Desert Eagle Heat Treated of your own is relatively easy, getting an expensive variant is mostly a matter of luck.
